Junior Naturalist

“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” - Mary Oliver

Connecting with the natural world from a young age is so important, and there has been a recent trend towards nature-based education by teachers and homeschooling families alike. It is essential for children to observe, understand & appreciate their environment, and we believe that our Junior Naturalist educational programming fulfills that demand!

Choose three activities for your fieldtrip from the variety of nature-related program outlines listed here, which align with current Wisconsin curriculum standards for kindergarten through 2nd grade students. These activities will be bound into a booklet for your students to carry with them & complete during their fieldtrip. Your students will delve deep into nature's network, as they thoughtfully consider topics presented by their program leader and complete given activities. Participating students will receive an official 'Christopher Farm & Gardens Junior Naturalist' badge of honor at the end of the program, as a sign of accomplishment!

You may be looking for a program that parallels what your students are learning in the classroom, or perhaps you're looking for something different that simply cannot be done indoors. Either way, we strive to supply learning activities that will keep your students engaged and focused on building their outdoor skills!

If you're looking for a specific program topic, and do not see it in this list, please contact us and we will be more than happy to work together to create a program that is right for your young learners.
