Native Habitats

At the Christopher Farm & Gardens there are acres devoted to the native habitat.  These areas are great for exploring and seeing native and naturally growing moss, mushrooms, and the ephemeral flowers come spring time.

Mushroom Information and Gallery

At The Farm we find mushrooms growing all over - from damp, shaded areas to the dry green grass to growing up the sides of trees.  Most important thing to know about mushrooms are which ones are edible and which ones are not.  Morels and shaggy manes are two varieties that we harvest for eating.  Morels are great sauted in a pan with melted butter - simple and savory.  A good place to hunt for Morels is by oak trees.
